• Is it bad to smoke a cigarette when filling up with gas?

My wife is always saying I shouldn’t do it. She also got mad at me today because my car was running and I slammed the door while smoking and filling up. She was livid and I didn’t understand why.

I have been looking for a deal from pep boys but they just don't seem to have any deals the last few months. I mean under 20. I do not have the equipment to change my own and I hate grease. My inclination is to wait for a July 4th oil change deal and do it then and if not, the next week even at $25. I have not checked firestones price for 2 reasons. While its probably closer to my house, its kind of night & day difference as far as area. The firestone is kind of a war zone. The pep boys is fine. Plus, I pay with pep boys gift cards which gives me a 20 per cent discount. (i get them via Discover with cashback, a 25 card is 20) Maybe I should call & ask firestone and try to get pep boys to match it?

I bought a 2004 Chrysler Sebring Coupe from someone on craigslist this week. It has 112k miles on it, and the owner said the timing belt was replaced last year and he got regular oil changes, but the car died on him a couple months ago and the mechanic didn’t know what was wrong with it. The mechanic ended up installing a new battery and that seemed to fix the problem. He said there were no other issues, and that he was selling the car because he and his wife just purchased new ones and didn’t need a third car. I’ve driven it a few times since I bought it and have noticed a few weird things: the car will jolt once when I’m picking up speed, will jerk back and forth when slowing down/coming to a stop, and the steering wheel vibrates when I’m stopped. My dad (a mechanic of 40+ years) has looked at/driven it and has noticed these things too, but says that I probably just need new rotors and new tires on the back (they’re pretty bald), and maybe a tire alignment. However, I just tried starting the car tonight and it started rumbling really bad, the engine started making a super loud revving noise on and off, the brake light started flickering, and the RPM meter started going up and down by itself. The car was still in park. It wasn’t cold out, so the engine didn’t need to warm up. I left it running for a few minutes, turned it off, then started it again and it kept happening. Is the car junk or does this sound like something that could be fixed?

Could it be the thermostat?

  • What happens if your car gets stolen from a machanic shop while its on the road waiting on you to pick it up?

Best answer: the mechanic's shop should have theft insurance - you need to ask them, and if they do, they need to contact their insurance company.....................it's possible that your vehicle will not be recovered, and if it is, it may have been stripped by a "chop shop"

  • Why are my wheels still heating up after replacing many parts?

Best answer: If you're hard on the brakes things will get hot. Every time you brake you are converting the energy of the car's speed into heat in the brakes
